MAP OF THE FIVE REALMS
In desperate need of a distraction during the lockdowns of 2020 and 2021, I decided to have a go at drawing the map of the Five Realms myself. I found the video series by Nate very useful ( they can be viewed here) and made a start.
While I did art at school (back in the 1970s), I can't claim to be an artist by any stretch of the imagination :0) But not to be put off, I brought a set of suitable pens, some good quality paper, and after watching the aforementioned videos above, I set about drawing my fantasy world. I decided early on to make a detailed map and draw each city how I viewed it in my mind - I find it annoying when I see cities as just a circle or the same building. This obviously was going to take some time, but as I was struggling to cope with the winter lockdown in the UK (I was unable to teach my day job), so I welcome tackling a long project.
I quickly realised I couldn't do this without making a lot of mistakes, so I scanned in my drawings and used MS Paint to fashion the map. Had I not done so, I think the map would have been covered in dirty smudges from all my rubbing out, and I'd probably still be at it :0)
Anyway, I'm pretty pleased with the result, and I hope it helps to add to my story.
